Thirthahalli is a small hamlet in Shimoga District. it is around 58kms from Shimoga and around 330 kms from Bangalore.
Thirthahalli is a centre to many scenic places around.
It also houses Kannada's famous Poet Kuvempu's House.

Just 20-25 Kms away from Tirthahalli is the starting point for Sita Nadhi white water rafting. If you go to Thirthahalli don't miss it. Its a wonderful experience. :)

I think I have been to this Place Thirthahalli more than 5-6 times and I am never tired of it. I am planning to purchase a land there too.

    Anyways

    Pleaces to visit here

    1. Agumbe - This has been known for years worldwide. Most Popularly through Malgudi Days Serial by the great Shankar Nag. Agumbe is one place which is so peaceful.
The Places to visit in Agumbe is the
    a) Famous Sunset Point - U get a beautiful Sunset view when the clouds are clear. Infact near the sunset point, there is a few steps which leads to a better place to watch the sun go to sleep

    b) Jogi Gundi Falls - This is 4kms from Agumbe Main Busstand. This is a very small waterfall where water splashes into a small Pond like place. Great Place to swim in the cold waters but beware of the leeches. Agumbe is full of them in rainy seasons

    c) Barkhana Falls - This is a falls which you can view from a distance now. Earlier you could go to the tip of the waterfall but now I think you can go if u trek to Narasimha Parvatha. This is not very much encouraged as there is a hell lot of Naxalite Activity over here in Agumbe and Around.

    d) Kudluteertha Falls - This is at the base of Agumbe. If u descend down the Someswara ghat from Agumbe(Probably the steepest ghat in Karnataka and u will just love driving ehre - For remembering at this moment think of the famous scene in Mungarina Minchu where Shilpa calls Ramesh to meet her and ramesh comes in Bullet - Ille tegdirodhu). After descending down the ghats, u go a further 6kms and u will reach hebri. Proceed further from Hebri where to your left u will find a place which leads to Kudluteertha Falls. U can go by bike for some distance and then u will need to trek. It is a wonderful Falls here. Water drops from around 120m into a lake. Bliss. Perfect Bliss this is. U will have to trek around 3kms in the thick forests. There are high chances of getting Lost. Just make a mental note of which path u take while going there so that u dont miss out while coming back.

    2. Kavaladurga Kote - Another Virgin Place in Thirthahalli. No one has filmed here. Infact after our aDDa team went( Naren, Soma, Chethu, Praveen, Nandish and Me and a few other friends) to this place, Gubbi Director Vijay COntacted and took info of this place. We had been here in August - the right time as it was peak monsoon and I must say u will love this place. Idhu 3 suthina Kote. U will have to trek a couple of paddy fields before u can reach the entrance of this place. I have been twice to this place. Once in peak Monsoon and the other time in January where the sun was almost killing us. This Kote was built by CHola Dynasty. It looks majestic as u go up. U trudge up the hills and u get a shiva temple where there is a linga and no one performs pooja here though. Little further up if you go( No Steps Here, U have to climb slippery Rocks) u get another small temple which also has a shiva linga. U can see the entire Shimoga DIstrict SUpposedly from that Place. There are ruins of a kingdom here. When we went last time in January 2011, we could see people relaying the kingdom back to how it was. There is a courtyard, a kalyani and other places over there
